Week 8, Day 3

This week you’ll be hearing from two Expert Guest Speakers, Dr. Elizabeth Sandel on Tuesday and Dr. Nicole Fisher on Thursday. You’ll also write for another newsletter, and three of you will complete your internship with a Work Showcase on Friday!

There are two tasks to do today:

• Write a thank you message to Dr. Sandel on this document.

• Prepare for Dr. Fisher’s talk on Thursday.

  • Read Dr. Fisher’s bio on our website.

  • Dr. Lippi Roy’s article: Superbowl Brain Summit Tackles Medical and Mental Health Issues.

  • Look through Dr. Fisher’s “Contributor” page on Forbes.

  • Read through these articles to get an idea how Dr. Fisher writes:

    • Sleeping More While Working From Home?

    • New 3-Digit Suicide Prevention Hotline Coming Following Unanimous Support From the FCC

This week:

• Newsletter reminders

  • Try to choose from the July 23rd updates document if at all possible, as that contains the most recent sources. If you need to go back to the July 9 updates document, make sure to use the search functionality on the CA website to check if its been written about before.

  • Put your name and the link to what you’re writing about under its topic in the final doc as soon as you choose it

  • Try to get your newsletter synopses in the final document by 5pm PST on Tuesday

  • Grammarly doesn’t catch everything and is not always correct, but it is definitely your friend! Run your synopses through Grammarly before you leave it for us in the final document.

• Continue working on your projects.

• Reminders for those working in Squarespace:

  • Always make sure that you are not making changes to a live page.

  • Squarespace has no version control. If you make changes to a page and then save that change, you cannot get the original version back. This applies to editing from two computers as well; Squarespace also does not support two active editors, so make sure that only one person is editing a page at a time. Squarespace has even had trouble when someone else has the page selected but is not editing, it can be really finicky.
