Welcome to Week 7 of your internship with Concussion Alliance! We are so proud of everyone, all of you have been crushing it! We’re looking forward to seeing you keep it up and continue working on your projects! We hope that this curriculum load continues to suit you well.

Our first expert speaker this week is Dr. Elizabeth Sandel on Tuesday at 10:00 am PT | 12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm ET; Dr. Sandel is the author of the book we read “Shaken Brain: The Science, Care, and Treatment of Concussions”. You can read her bio here.

Our second expert speaker this week is Dr. Christina Master, on Tuesday at 12:00pm PT | 2:00 pm CT | 3:00 pm ET; Dr. Master is a pediatric sports medicine specialist focusing on brain injury. You can read more about her here.

Our third expert speakers this week are Conor and Malayka Gormally on Friday at 10:00 am PT | 12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm ET; Conor and Malayka will discuss the ins and outs of running a non-profit and answer questions that anyone has. Read more about Conor here and more about Malayka here.

We’ll have our Showcase Q&A and Program Reflection Discussion on Wednesday at 10:00 am PT | 12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm ET. 

We will have a Newsletter Open Office Hour on Wednesday 12:00 am PT | 2:00 pm CT | 3:00 pm ET.

We’ll also have one group social activity this week! We have our weekly Social Hour on Thursday at 10:00 am PT | 12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm ET.

Start-of-day Procedure

  1. Check Slack for new messages.

  2. Check the schedule in #weekly-schedules on Slack, on the week page in this portal, or on the shared Google Calendar.

  3. Check the ‘day page’ for tasks & content.

  4. Check your project resource Google doc in your project folder for new resources.

  5. Check in with your PM on Slack.

  6. Check in with your project partner on Slack .

  • Keep working on your Squarespace page!

  • Keep getting things ready for your page: graphics, images, edits, additional research, etc.

Curriculum for Today

We’ve provided a group of educational resources below. We’ve listed them in an order that we hope will build on your understanding of concussions as you go through them.

  • Stanford Writing Course Week 7: Issues in Scientific Writing (Plagiarism, Authorship, Ghostwriting, Reproducible Research)

    • Do this at your own pace throughout the week (~2 hrs total)
