Week 4, Day 4

Welcome to week 4 of your internship with Concussion Alliance! We cannot believe we are almost halfway through. All of you have been crushing it! We hope that this curriculum load continues to suit you well.

We’ have one group social activity this week! We have our weekly Social Hour on Friday at 10:00 am PT | 12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm ET.

Start-of-day Procedure

  1. Check Slack for new messages.

  2. Check the schedule in #weekly-schedules on Slack, on the week page in this portal, or on the shared Google Calendar.

  3. Check the ‘day page’ for tasks & content.

  4. Check your project resource Google doc in your project folder for new resources.

  5. Check in with your PM on Slack.

  6. Check in with your project partner on Slack .


There are three tasks to do today:

  • Sign up here for a mid internship meeting with Conor for next week!

  • Thank you to Dr. Osman Ahmed

    • Please write a note to Dr. Ahmed thanking him for speaking on Monday. As part of showing professionalism and respect to our speakers for taking time out of their schedules to talk to us, we try to send these thank you notes back within 2 business days of their talk. You can write your note here.

  • Thank you to Dr. Nathan Zasler

    • Please write a note to Dr. Zasler thanking him for speaking on Wednesday. As part of showing professionalism and respect to our speakers for taking time out of their schedules to talk to us, we try to send these thank you notes back within 2 business days of their talk. You can write your note here.

  • Please double-check that you have written all the thank you notes you need to be caught up on!

  • Keep building a skeleton of your project outline! Reach out to the admin team if you need help with resources/planning/etc.

    • Please send a message in your project channel once the outline is complete so we know and can look it over!


Curriculum for Today

We’ve provided a group of educational resources below. We’ve listed them in an order that we hope will build on your understanding of concussions as you go through them.

Unit 5: Concussion Movie (~2 hrs)

  • Watch Concussion (~2 hrs)

    • Feel free to watch this over the weekend as well!

    • The movie is on Amazon, and if you need reimbursement, let us know!

Unit 6: Stanford Writing Course

  • Stanford Writing Course Week 4: Organization and streamlining the writing process

    • Do this at your own pace throughout the week, each lesson is separate (~2 hours total)
