Week 3 Day 2
Happy third and final week! This week is an exciting mix of guest speakers and finalizing/presenting your projects. We have a lighter curriculum this week and have standardized the meeting schedule as much as possible. Please let us know if you have any more feedback going forward!
We’re excited to welcome two more expert guest speakers today! We’ll also be finishing Shaken Brain and having a discussion on it. You’ll finish your projects and prepare your presentations for our 2 part showcase on Thursday and Friday. We will also be conducting short exit interviews with each of you individually to collect feedback and reflect on your experience.
Meetings (Zoom link in Slack)
Nancy’s subcohort will do their exit interviews starting at 10 am PST this morning. Meanwhile, web designers will have a check in with Malayka.
At 12 pm PST, we will all join our first expert guest speaker of the day, Kam Gardner who was able to reschedule from last week! We will have a short break once the talk concludes and hop back on for our next expert guest speaker, Dr. Elizabeth Sandel at (or shortly after) 1 pm PST. Be prepared to engage and review Monday’s curriculum as it pertains to this guest speaker.
Exit interviews
Conor/your PM will conduct exit interviews in 15-minute slots between 10 am and 11 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Tuesday: Nancy’s subcohort completes exit interviews. Web designer subcohort check-in.
Wednesday: Science writers have subcohort check-in’s at 10 am PST. Wed designers complete exit interviews.
Thursday: Claire’s subcohort completes exit interviews.
There are two tasks to do today:
Complete the curriculum to prepare for the guest speaker and finish drafting your project.
Project-Related Reminders for Today:
Check-in with your partner to begin the editing process, finalize your drafts, and start transitioning to squarespace. Use your PMs, Conor & Malayka, and fellow science writers as resources to answer questions and address obstacles as you encounter them. Think about reaching out to a different project group to peer review your draft once you both have completed rough drafts.
