Week 2, Day 5
Welcome to Week 2! While we’ll still be bringing you educational materials and resources so you can continue to learn about mTBI, this week we’ll be transitioning to content creation. On Monday you’ll begin writing your first Newsletter synopses. As you finish your Newsletter work, we’ll be transitioning to your first projects, meeting with Eloïse and Conor individually to get started.
There are four tasks to do today:
Continue to work on your projects.
If you wish, write a thank you message to Dan Fogarty. I’ve set up the same format as we used for Eve; write your messages in this doc. I will also share Dan’s contact in Slack, but I think creating this “thank you” doc will be something he will appreciate.
Study some Trello tutorials. We envision that each project group will have its own Trello board to track their project. This will be useful particularly when the projects get more complex. We plan to send you Trello invitations in the next couple of days.
CTE knowledge training, related to your watching and discussing League of Denial. These should all be quick reading/viewing. Feel free to skip anything that is repetitive.
Concussion Legacy Foundation is the nonprofit leading the charge on the CTE issue. They are also the big gorilla in the room, in terms of concussion nonprofits, so worth knowing about them. Read their CTE page.
Brainline is also another great resource.

Optional additional reading:
New research on light therapy shows promise for patients who have suffered repetitive head impacts and may have CTE based on their medical history Julian and Malayka wrote this blog post last summer. We based this blog on materials that Dr. Margaret Naeser gave us, and on extensive email and phone conversations with her.
To the best of my knowledge, this blog is the most extensive write-up about these two case studies anywhere online. Dr. Naeser will be our guest speaker on July 14.
Functional Neurology - Dan mentioned that his functional neurologist has been a pivotal healthcare provider for his healing. You can read our page about Functional Neurology, which was written by Julian, with an intro by Galen. It also has links to related blog posts we have written about the field.
