Week 2, Day 4

Happy Thursday everyone! This week you’ll get a chance to take your science writing knowledge and newfound concussion knowledge and apply them to your newsletter work, while building on the learning from last week.

Super great job on the discussion questions today! Everyone was able to voice their thoughts and opinions and the conversation went smoothly. Next on Thursday (6/23), we’ll officially begin the primary part of your internship – projects!

Our speaker this week is Dr. Nick Reed of the Oak Concussion Lab on Thursday (6/23).

Concussion Curriculum

  • At the 2019 Sports Concussion summit, Dr. Karen McCulloch, PT, Ph.D., MS, NCS gives a presentation describing her research on concussion rehabilitation. She speaks specifically of her work looking at concussive events occur when there is cervical or vestibular injury. As a neurologic physical therapist, McCulloch describes the number of confounders that may prolong recovery depending on certain impairments. Her work depends on looking at specific impairments and ascertaining how they will impact recovery and rehabilitation. (~30 m)
