Week 10, Day 4
Welcome to the final week of your internship! You’ll be hearing from rehab specialist Rua Gilna, writing your final newsletter, finishing up your projects, and presenting your work to each other and the CA community in our final End-of-Internship Showcase! Congratulations!
There are 3 tasks to do today:
Look through these two readings to prepare for Caroline’s presentation today at 11:15. They shouldn’t take too long, but plan time into your day to read them.
This story from Concussion Legacy Foundation
Notes from Caroline: “This is the story of Simran Kohli, another girl who dealt with persistent post-concussion symptoms in high school. Her story has some parallels to mine and resonates with me especially for how she describes the injury overturning her life, but also making her stronger. Notice how she describes social support (or lack thereof), and the role it played in her recovery.”
Excerpts from Redirect, by Timothy Wilson
Notes from Caroline: “This photo album has excerpts from a book called Redirect: the Surprising New Science of Psychological Change, by Timothy Wilson. Key in on the red boxes, as they hold the most relevant takeaways of story-editing and reframing narratives as a method to break out of ruminating thoughts. The non-boxed parts are extra but interesting context from chapters 1 & 3: Redirect: Small Edits, Lasting Changes and Shaping Our Narratives: Increasing Personal Well-Being.”
If you have not yet, take this poll about your preference in terms of using a photo (with you on it) for general press release.
If you have not yet, write a thank-you message to Rua Gilna on this form! All of our speakers have been wowed by your messages.
This week:
Continue working on your projects.
Reminders for those working in Squarespace:
Always make sure that you are not making changes to a live page.
Squarespace has no version control. If you make changes to a page and then save that change, you cannot get the original version back. This applies to editing from two computers as well; Squarespace also does not support two active editors, so make sure that only one person is editing a page at a time. Squarespace has even had trouble when someone else has the page selected but is not editing, it can be really finicky.
